Steven Benjamin Ramsdell was born on 178th street in Washington Heights, Manhattan, New York City, New York. He grew up traveling the US while living in an old school bus his mother, Karen, had turned into a mobile home. He attended various grade and high schools during this period, developing a love for, and great skill at, basketball. He was a tall person, highly reflexive, athletic, and physically well developed, so the sport was a great fit. In 1984, at the age of fourteen, his mother passed away. Consequent to this sad event, he came to live in Milford, Pennsylvania with his grandmother, Virginia. At Milford, he finished high school, unfortunately suffering an injury which ended his ability to effectively play basketball. After a stint in the army, he found various employment, all of which was undertaken to backstop his efforts to achieve recognition as a comedian. He worked hard at this, playing in every comedy club he could and in smaller venues as well. He could be very funny. His comedy tended towards darker, edgier humor; he often combined tasty guitar work with his comedy stylings. He met his wife, Tina, in Bozeman, Montana and lived there for some time. Eventually he moved out to the west coast where he believed the politics of the region would be more suitable for him and more opportunity for his comedic aspirations might be found. He and his wife eventually went their separate ways. Their two children remained with her. Moving on, he played the stages from the west coast comedy clubs all the way to those in his birthplace, New York City. There he became seriously ill and eventually passed away while in the care of a veteran's facility per his army service. |
